学院三个本科专业共享两年平台课程，以人居空间环境设计为专业群特色，长期以来以复合型综合能力和创新实践能力的培养为核心，具有较高的专业教育水准，在华南地区享有盛誉。

近年来，学院不断推进开放性办学，目前已联合澳大利亚科廷大学进行“2+2+1” 本科双学位项目，联合澳大利亚西澳大学进行“3+2”本硕连读项目。
